Congress releases manifesto for Gujarat polls

The Congress released its manifesto for the Gujarat elections on Saturday. The Congress, which has been out of power in Gujarat for 27 years, has made many big promises in its manifesto to woo the people. These include talks ranging from 300 units of free electricity to giving 10 lakh jobs.

While releasing the manifesto, Rajasthan Chief Minister and Gujarat Congress in-charge Ashok Gehlot said that the work of fulfilling these promises will start as soon as the party comes to power.

Let us know what promises have been made in the Congress manifesto and what are its meanings?

  1. 1.110 lakh jobs: Has promised to provide jobs to 10 lakh youth of Gujarat. The Congress has said that all government posts in Gujarat will be filled at the earliest. 50 percent women’s reservation will also be included in these. There are 3.26 crore voters in the state, whose age is between 18 and 49 years. Of these, 1.12 lakh voters are in the age group of 18 to 19 years. Congress is trying to woo these youths. The Congress has made many other promises regarding the youth.
  1. 300 units of free electricity, electricity to farmers for 10 hours: Congress has also made two big promises regarding electricity. It has been said in the manifesto that if the Congress government is formed, 300 units of free electricity will be given to all. At the same time, farmers will get free electricity facility for 10 hours every day. According to the 2011 census, there are more than 55 lakh farmers in Gujarat. Among them, there are about 20 lakh small farmers. In such a situation, this promise of Congress can attract the farmers towards it.
  2. What promises were made for the youth: This is also a big promise for the youth of Gujarat. After coming to power, the Congress has promised to give an allowance of Rs 3,000 per month to the unemployed. Apart from this, he has also promised to set up Sam Mankesha Military Academy for the preparation of army recruitment. Has promised to start Vishwakarma Hunar Nirman Yojana for skill development. Apart from this, he has also promised to provide free Android mobiles to the needy students.
  3. What for farmers?: The Congress has promised to waive farmers’ loans up to three lakh rupees after coming to power. Apart from this, a subsidy of Rs 5 per liter has been promised to the milk producers. The number of milk producers in Gujarat runs into lakhs. In such a situation, the Congress is hoping to get the benefit of this promise. Farmers will also be given free electricity for 10 hours everyday. Old electricity bills will also be waived.
  4. Gas cylinder for Rs 500: Congress manifesto has promised that if Congress comes to power in Gujarat, then gas cylinder will be available for only Rs 500.
  5. What is the promise for girls? Congress has also made many promises for girls. Apart from 50 percent reservation in government jobs, it has also promised free education from KG to PG. It has also been said that if Congress comes to power, 3000 English medium schools will be opened.
  6. Outsourcing stopped in government departments, old pension will be restored: This is a big promise for more than 20 lakh employees. The Congress has said that if its government is formed, it will stop outsourcing work in government departments. Instead, a permanent job will be given. Apart from this, the old pension will also be restored. Apart from this, it has also promised to regularize the contractual employees working in the government departments of Gujarat for more than 10 years.
  7. What promises did you make for the health system? Congress has promised that every Gujarati will be given free treatment up to Rs 10 lakh. For this, health facilities will also be improved. Free medicines have also been promised.
  8. What for women? Two thousand rupees will be given per month to disabled, widow, needy women.
