Petrol-Diesel Prices Today: The price of petrol and diesel remained stable on January 4. In the last seven months, fuel prices have remained stable. Every morning at 6:00 a.m., the oil marketing companies revise fuel prices. The last significant nationwide fluctuation in fuel prices occurred in May, when the Centre reduced the excise duty on petrol by Rs 8 per litre and diesel by Rs 6 per litre.
Nirmala Sitharaman, the finance minister, announced on May 21, 2022, a reduction in excise rates for petrol and diesel of Rs 8 per litre and Rs 6 per litre, respectively. The Maharashtra government announced a VAT reduction of Rs. 5 per litre for petrol and Rs. 3 per litre for diesel, which will take effect on July 15.
