Israeli settlers : Associated Press reports that hundreds of Israeli settlers stormed into a West Bank town on Wednesday and burned down several cars and houses of Palestinians. One person was killed in the violence.
Palestinians told AP that the marauding Israeli settlers were avenging the deaths of four Israeli soldiers killed a day earlier.
The news agency also reports that Israelis launched an airstrike after nightfall on a car in the West Nak area. Tel Aviv suspected the car was carrying gunmen. Palestinian news agencies reported that three people were killed in this attack.
Observers say this attack raised tensions in the area already caused by a daylong Israeli military attack that killed seven people. There was also a mass shooting on Tuesday resulting in the death of a 17-year-old Israeli boy.
Responding to the deadly shooting, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the construction of 1,000 houses in the area for Israeli settlers.
“Inability to halt settler violence”
Palestinians have often complained about Israel’s inability to curb settler violence. Residents in TurmusAyya said hundreds of Israeli settlers “marched down the town’s main road, setting fire to cars, homes and trees.”
A local official LafiAdeeb said eight Palestinians were hurt in the violence and 60 cars and 30 cars were damaged. Israeli Police tried to control the violence by firing rubber bullets.

“Innocent” man killed
Medical officials in TurmusAyya said a 27-year-old man was killed in the settler violence. The man, Omar Qatin was an electrician and father of two small children.
Israeli Police say one policeman opened fire after believing his life was in danger and hit a rioter.
Palestinians say the victim, Omar Qatim, was innocent. “He was just standing there, innocent, he is such a kind-hearted kid. He had no stones, he was totally unarmed, he was at least half a mile (one kilometre) away from the military,” told Qatim’s neighbour Khamis Jabar to the media.
