Rajasthan’s Crorepati MLAs: An Analysis of Wealth and Party Affiliation

  • Rajasthan News: In a recent report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Rajasthan Election Watch, it has been revealed that a significant majority of sitting MLAs in the current Rajasthan Assembly are crorepatis, individuals with assets worth over one crore rupees.

Party-wise Distribution of Crorepati MLAs

  • Among the analyzed MLAs, 79 percent are classified as crorepatis, showcasing their substantial financial assets. This trend cuts across various political parties:
  • Congress: A total of 88 out of 108 Congress MLAs (81 percent) are crorepatis.
  • BJP: The Bharatiya Janata Party features 54 out of 69 MLAs (78 percent) with assets exceeding one crore rupees.
  • Independent MLAs: Out of 14 independent MLAs, 12 are crorepatis, indicating a strong financial standing.
  • Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP): This party has 2 out of 3 MLAs categorized as crorepatis.

The Average Assets of Rajasthan’s MLAs

  • The ADR and Rajasthan Election Watch report reveals that the average assets per sitting MLA in the Rajasthan Assembly amount to Rs. 7.49 crores. When examining the party-wise distribution of these assets:
  • Congress MLAs have an average of Rs. 9.28 crores in assets.
  • BJP MLAs possess an average of Rs. 5.45 crores in assets.
  • RLP MLAs have an average of Rs. 2.55 crores in assets.
  • Bhartiya Tribal Party MLAs maintain an average of Rs. 7.66 lakhs in assets.
  • CPI (M) MLAs possess an average of Rs. 24.24 lakhs in assets.
  • Independent MLAs collectively have an average of Rs. 7.54 crores in assets.

Notable MLAs with Varied Financial Profiles

  • While many MLAs have substantial assets, there are exceptions with fewer assets, including:
  • Rajkumar Roat: The youngest MLA representing Chorasi (ST) constituency.
  • Mukesh Kumar Bhakar: Elected MLA from Ladnun constituency.
  • Ramniwas Gawriya: Represents Parbatsar constituency.

This report underscores the financial diversity among Rajasthan’s MLAs, providing insights into their wealth and party affiliations.
