In view of the Independence Day celebrations on 15 August 2025, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued a detailed traffic advisory for commuters. Restrictions will be in place from 4:00 AM to 10:00 AM around key areas, especially near the Red Fort, where the main function will be held.
Key Highlights of the Advisory:
- Commercial vehicles and inter-state buses will be restricted from entering certain parts of the city during the celebration hours.
- Several roads, including Netaji Subhash Marg, will remain closed to general traffic during the event.
- Buses coming from South Delhi will be diverted to avoid the restricted zones.
- Traffic around GPO Delhi, H.C. Mukherjee Marg, and other nearby routes will be regulated.
- Vehicles without special Independence Day parking labels will not be allowed near India Gate, Connaught Place, Mandi House, Nizamuddin Bridge, and ISBT areas during the restricted hours.
Alternative Routes Suggested:
- Commuters are advised to use Ring Road via Salimgarh Bypass to bypass restricted areas.
- Travelers from Nizamuddin to ISBT Kashmere Gate should avoid central Delhi roads during the advisory hours.
The Delhi Traffic Police has appealed to the public to cooperate and plan their travel in advance to avoid inconvenience. They have also deployed additional personnel at important intersections to ensure smooth traffic movement.
Authorities have stressed that the restrictions are essential for security and to facilitate the smooth conduct of Independence Day celebrations.
