According to the government’s new guidelines, children from low-income families will be provided free education in private schools under this quota. The move is aimed at fulfilling the state’s commitment to bring quality education to every household, irrespective of economic background.

Officials said the government will closely monitor the implementation of the order, ensuring that no school denies admission to eligible students under the 25% reservation. The scheme is expected to benefit thousands of children across Punjab by giving them access to better educational opportunities.

The initiative, aligned with the Right to Education Act, aims to ensure that no child is deprived of quality education due to financial constraints. The Punjab government has stressed that education is a fundamental right, not a privilege, and private schools must contribute their share to build an equitable system.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann highlighted that this move will bring thousands of underprivileged children into mainstream education, offering them equal opportunities to excel. He added that the government is determined to bridge the gap between the rich and poor by ensuring fair access to resources.

Officials also stated that strict monitoring mechanisms will be put in place to ensure that private schools follow the directive in letter and spirit. Schools failing to comply may face penalties or action under the education policy framework.

Education activists have welcomed the decision, calling it a “historic step” that could transform Punjab’s social fabric by uplifting economically weaker sections through education. Parents too have expressed relief, hoping their children will now get a chance to study in reputed schools without financial burden.
