Dhanashree Verma has finally opened up about her divorce from cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal, almost a month after he spoke publicly about their separation. The dancer and content creator shared her experience during an episode of the Humans of Bombay podcast on YouTube. She spoke candidly about the emotional challenges she faced during the divorce proceedings.

Chahal made headlines when he attended their final divorce hearing wearing a T-shirt that read, “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy.” The move immediately went viral and sparked widespread discussion online. Dhanashree admitted she was shocked by the gesture.
She joked, “Are bhai, WhatsApp krdeta. T-shirt kyun pehna hai? (You should have sent it on WhatsApp. Why wear the T-shirt?).” She added that if he wanted to send a message, it should have been done privately rather than publicly.
Dhanashree On Her Emotional Breakdown During Final Hearing
Dhanashree recalled how emotional she became during the hearing. She said, “I still remember when I was standing there and the verdict was about to be given. Even though we were so well-prepared mentally, I got so emotional. I started howling in front of everybody. I couldn’t even express what I was feeling at that point. I just remember that I just kept crying, I was just howling and crying. Of course! All of that happened, and he walked out first.”
She also addressed the public backlash after Chahal’s T-shirt went viral. Dhanashree said that people were quick to assign blame, and the online criticism started even before she fully understood what had happened.

About Dhanashree Verma And Yuzvendra Chahal’s Divorce
For those unaware, Dhanashree and Chahal got married in Gurugram in December 2020. They had met during the COVID-19 pandemic when Chahal approached Dhanashree for dance lessons. The couple separated in June 2022 and filed a joint petition for divorce by mutual consent in February 2025. The court granted the divorce in March this year.
During the proceedings, rumours about Dhanashree seeking Rs 60 crore in alimony circulated online. Her family strongly denied these claims, clarifying that no such amount was ever requested or offered. Reports indicate that Chahal paid Rs 4.75 crore as alimony to Dhanashree.
