On the Ukraine conflict, Macron said both leaders discussed their aligned positions with the aim of achieving a just and lasting peace. He stressed the importance of ensuring strong security guarantees for Ukraine and Europe, signaling France and India’s joint stance on promoting stability amid global challenges.

Economic cooperation also featured prominently in their discussion

Macron revealed that India and France are set to strengthen economic exchanges and expand their strategic partnership in all sectors. The focus, he said, is on building sovereignty and independence for both nations while boosting trade and investment opportunities.

The leaders also touched upon the fast-evolving field of artificial intelligence. Following the AI Action Summit held in Paris in February 2025, both sides are preparing for the AI Impact Summit scheduled in New Delhi in 2026. The initiative is expected to foster collaboration in ethical AI development, innovation, and global AI governance.

Looking ahead to global leadership forums, Macron noted that France and India will coordinate closely for the French presidency of the G7 and the Indian presidency of BRICS, both in 2026. This cooperation is aimed at advancing effective multilateralism and ensuring that global institutions remain responsive to the challenges of the future.

The conversation underscores how India and France are not just bilateral partners but also strategic allies on the world stage, working together for peace, economic growth, and innovation.
