Son Of Sardaar 2 Vs Dhadak 2 Box Office Collection Day 2: Shocking! No Big Saturday Boost Despite Discounts As Saiyaara Steals The Spotlight

The much-anticipated box office face-off between Son of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2 failed to spark excitement on Day 2, as both films witnessed minimal growth on Saturday. Despite weekend advantages and discount-driven promotions, the collections stayed underwhelming, while the third-week release, Saiyaara, surprised everyone by outperforming the new releases.

Son of Sardaar 2 Box Office Collection Day 2

Son of Sardaar 2, starring Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur, was expected to pull in strong numbers given its brand value and festive weekend. However, the film managed only a 3.45% increase from its opening day. According to trade portal Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 7.50 crore on Day 2, bringing its total to Rs 14.75 crore.

The film\’s occupancy rate also remained average, with just 25.94% overall in Hindi. Morning shows saw only 8.05% turnout, which improved slightly during the afternoon and evening but peaked at 44.65% only during night shows.

Despite being a sequel to a popular comedy, early reactions to the trailer and promotional content were lukewarm, and this seems to have reflected in its box office performance. Even with a weekend advantage, the film couldn’t gain significant traction.

Dhadak 2 Box Office Collection Day 2

The Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri starrer Dhadak 2, directed by debutant Shazia Iqbal, also faced a similar fate. The film opened with Rs 3.5 crore on Friday and saw only a slight increase to Rs 3.75 crore on Saturday. This brought its total to around Rs 7.25 crore in two days.

While the film tackles a powerful social theme and is a remake of the acclaimed Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal, it hasn\’t managed to strike a chord with the larger audience. Despite solid performances, the film has struggled to attract footfalls, especially with competition from multiple films.

Saiyaara Dominates These New Releases

In a twist that has shocked many trade watchers, Saiyaara, now in its third week, continues to dominate the box office. On its 16th day (Saturday), the film earned Rs 6.35 crore, a sharp rise from Rs 4.5 crore on Friday.

Featuring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, the Mohit Suri directorial has become a sleeper hit. The emotional love story of a young musician and a poet with early-onset Alzheimer’s has found strong emotional resonance with the audience. Despite being a holdover release, Saiyaara has outperformed both Son of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2, proving that good content still drives box office success.

What’s Not Working For Son Of Sardaar 2 And Dhadak 2

Both Son of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2 carried expectations but lacked the critical word-of-mouth needed to bring audiences in big numbers. Son of Sardaar 2, directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, failed to deliver the humour and excitement that made its predecessor popular. Meanwhile, Dhadak 2 struggled to translate its powerful message into box office appeal, despite the solid subject.

The box office numbers from Saturday proves that content that connects emotionally, like Saiyaara, still wins over franchise value or star power. As Sunday figures roll in, it would be interesting to see whether the newer films can bounce back as Saiyaara continues its winning streak.
