Veteran industrialist Rahul Bajaj, synonymous with Bajaj Auto, died today in Pune. He was 83.
Rahul Bajaj had pneumonia and also a heart problem.
A statement from the Bajaj Group said that the industrialist died in the "presence of his closest family members".
Bajaj was not keeping well for quite some time and his last rites will be held on Sunday.
Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray said Rahul Bajaj will be accorded a state funeral.
Born on June 10, 1938, Rahul Bajaj acted as the chairman of the Bajaj Group for over 40 years.
He stepped down as the non-executive chairman of Bajaj Auto in April 2021.
A former Rajya Sabha member, Mr Bajaj was forthright in his views and respected by all.
