The initiative comes as a major relief for thousands of college-goers in Delhi who often face challenges with overcrowded buses and last-mile connectivity. With this new service, the state government aims to offer a safer and more dependable option that directly connects important educational hubs.

The schedules have been designed carefully to match college timings

According to the official announcement, these buses will operate between North Campus, South Campus, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Delhi), and other key institutions, covering routes that are frequently used by students. The schedules have been designed carefully to match college timings, minimizing delays and improving convenience.

CM Rekha Gupta emphasized that this step is part of the government’s broader vision to create a student-friendly Delhi, where mobility is not a barrier to education. She also assured that the new fleet will follow strict safety standards, ensuring students, particularly young women, can travel without concern.

The University Special Buses are equipped with GPS, CCTV cameras, and modern safety features. Regular monitoring will be done by the Delhi Transport Department to maintain punctuality and efficiency.

Students and parents have welcomed this initiative, praising the government for addressing a long-standing demand. Many highlighted that reliable connectivity will not only save time but also reduce dependence on private vehicles and ride-sharing apps, making travel more affordable.

With this move, Delhi takes a step closer to building a more inclusive, safe, and sustainable public transport system for its youth.
