Delhi Flood Alert: After the Yamuna River overflowed due to heavy rainfall, Delhi is experiencing severe flooding that has disrupted daily life and transport services around the city. Train Services Are Hardly Affected
The railway network has been most immediately affected. Thirty-four trains have been rerouted to avoid flooded tracks, while 40 trains have been cancelled altogether. Travellers from Delhi to other towns such as Ghaziabad, Saharanpur, and Jammu encountered unforeseen cancellations, which caused confusion at important train stops. Before going to the station, commuters are being advised by officials to check the status of their trains online.
Impact on Metro Operations
Metro services are also not exempt. Rising water levels surrounding some stations, especially Yamuna Bank on the Blue Line, have resulted in restricted access and departure. Metro officials have made sure that train services would still operate on all lines in spite of this, albeit with restricted access to the impacted stations. It is recommended that commuters try to avoid busy hours and factor in additional time for their journey.
Waterlogging Is a Problem at the Kashmiri Gate ISBT
Severe waterlogging has also affected the Kashmiri Gate Interstate Bus Terminal (ISBT), which has made it challenging for buses to run on time. As buses battled to manoeuvre through waterlogged sections, passengers at the terminal complained of lengthy waits and interrupted travel. Although local officials and emergency services have put up barricades and pumps to control the flood, the problem still exists.
Authorities Suggest Caution
Local police and the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) have urged residents to stay away from unnecessary travel, especially in low-lying regions that are vulnerable to flooding. Emergency helplines are open for trapped commuters, and temporary shelters have been set up for individuals impacted by the rising floods.

Over the next 24 to 48 hours, meteorologists anticipate sporadic rainfall, which might make the flooding in some areas of the city worse. For timely alerts, residents are encouraged to stay informed via news outlets and official social media accounts.
