Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Issues Special Orders for Flood-Affected Schools, Ensuring Student Safety

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann ensures relief and student safety after floods, shifting classes from damaged schools and promising full recovery.

One of the worst floods in decades has hit Punjab, affecting everyone and everything, from people and animals to enormous farmlands. In the midst of the crisis, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his administration are making every effort to rebuild Punjab and guarantee the security of children in areas affected by flooding, with a particular emphasis on schools.

Flood’s Devastating Impact on Punjab

Punjab’s recent floods have left extensive damage in their wake. People are fighting for their lives after homes, animals, and crops covering acres of land were washed away. The government led by Bhagwant Mann is working tirelessly to put Punjab back on the road to progress and recovery, acknowledging the seriousness of the situation.

Particular Attention to Student Safety

The safety of school children in flood-affected areas is one of the government’s top priorities. After hearing from district education officers, Sakshi Sahni, the Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar, issued a special directive.

  • All schools in flood-affected areas were ordered to reopen on Tuesday under normal conditions.
  • Students from schools with severely damaged buildings are being shifted to nearby villages for safety.
  • Heavily damaged classrooms are being closed until further notice to avoid risks.

There are currently 13 senior secondary schools and 31 primary schools in the flood-affected areas. Four of these are unsafe, and five of the school buildings are severely damaged. Classes are being moved to other local schools as a stopgap measure.

CM Bhagwant Mann Assurance

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, along with his ministers, has been closely monitoring the relief operations. His government continues to roll out new schemes to ensure that every person affected by the floods receives adequate support.

In a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter), Bhagwant Mann wrote:

“The floodwaters did not just enter people’s homes, but also washed away their dreams. We stand with our people in this difficult time. Every possible effort is being made to bring life back to normal. Punjab will rise again.”
