Acting on intelligence inputs, the Counter Intelligence (CI) wing in Amritsar conducted a well-coordinated operation leading to the arrest of two key operatives — Gurjant Singh and Gurvel Singh, both residents of Tarn Taran district.

During the operation, police recovered 2.5 kg of heroin and five sophisticated pistols along with magazines. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused were working on the instructions of a Pakistan-based smuggler, tasked with pushing arms and drugs into India through the border areas of Punjab. The seized weapons were reportedly meant to be supplied to gangsters and criminal networks operating in the state, with the intent to destabilize law and order.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann commended the Punjab Police for their relentless efforts in safeguarding the state. He reiterated that his government remains firm in its commitment to making Punjab drug-free and crime-free, emphasizing that those involved in such unlawful activities would be dealt with strictly.
