Bobby Deol made an impressive comeback into the showbiz. Salman Khan gave him a career boost with Race 3, but it was Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal that truly brought him back into the spotlight. In this action-packed family drama, Bobby played the chilling antagonist Abrar Haq, opposite Ranbir Kapoor’s intense Ranvijay.
Even though he was on screen for only 25 minutes, Bobby left a strong impact. His performance was raw, brutal, and deeply unsettling. What made it more striking was that his character did not speak a single word. The silence made him even more menacing. Bobby’s expressions did all the talking, showing fear, control and power. Fans noticed that even in a short time, he could dominate the story and prove his talent.
Did Bobby Deol Overshadow Ranbir Kapoor In Animal?
Bobby also addressed fan questions about whether his role overshadowed Ranbir Kapoor. Speaking to Filmygyan, he said, “Aisa kuchh nahi hai. Agar Ranbir ko 3 ghante sambhaalne the, mujhe sirf 15 minute sambhaalne the. Agar Ranbir woh 3 ghante nahi sambhaal paata toh mere 15 minute ka koi value nahi hota (It’s nothing like that. If Ranbir had to carry the film for three hours, I only had to handle it for fifteen minutes. If Ranbir couldn’t manage those three hours, then my fifteen minutes wouldn’t have had any value.)”
When asked about his “Lord Bobby” tag, the actor explained, “Log dil se bulate hain. Acha lagta hai. Papa mera naam Bobby hai, par mujhe Bobba kehte hain. Ek dost ko main fatty kehta hoon kyunki pyaar karta hoon. Lord ka naam mujhe lucky feel karata hai.”
