Adani Enterprises and Google have partnered through their joint venture AdaniConneX to create the largest artificial intelligence (AI) data center campus in the country in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. A commitment of $15 billion to develop AI infrastructure
Google plans to commit approximately $15 billion in the next 5 years, from 2026 to 2030, to expand a 1-gigawatt AI data center site in Visakhapatnam, which will be the biggest AI center for Google anywhere in the world outside the US. This speaks to India’s positioning as a more prominent player in the larger AI ecosystem.
Strategic Partnerships and Technology Advancements
As part of the initiative, a gigawatt-scale data center with green energy sources powered and connected by a high-capacity submarine fiber cable will be developed. Airtel, one of the major telecom operators in India, will partner with Google to build a cutting-edge Cable Landing Station (CLS) in Visakhapatnam, facilitating a global enhancement of connectivity for AI workloads.

The building of this AI data center will create more than 180,000 jobs in clean energy, technology, and construction. It will also help drive the economy of Visakhapatnam and the remaining portion of Andhra Pradesh with a digital ecosystem.
