Bhagwant Mann Government’s Crackdown: Punjab Police Bust Cross-Border Smuggling Module Linked to Canada and Pakistan

The Punjab Police, under the Mann government, continues to intensify its campaign against organized crime, drug and arms trafficking, and anti-national activities.

In a major success under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s leadership, Punjab Police has busted an international weapon smuggling module operating between Canada and Pakistan. Acting on specific intelligence, Amritsar Rural Police apprehended Amarbir Singh, alias Amar, a resident of Dairiwal in Tarsikka police station area, and recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition.

The recovery includes nine pistols, 11 magazines, 101 live cartridges of .30 bore, and 20 live cartridges of 9mm. According to police officials, the accused had recently returned from Canada and was found to be in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers.

DGP Punjab, in a statement, said that a case has been registered and investigations are underway to identify other operatives, trace both forward and backward linkages, and completely dismantle the cross-border smuggling network.

The Punjab Police, under the Mann government, continues to intensify its campaign against organized crime, drug and arms trafficking, and anti-national activities. The state government reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace, law, and harmony across Punjab.
