The Punjab Government, led by Bhagwant Mann, is going strong in its battle against drugs, marking the 239th day of the sustained ‘War on Drugs’ campaign with coordinated operations across the state. The continued eviction emphasises the government’s resolve to dismantle narcotics networks and restore safety for all communities in Punjab.
Officials reported multiple arrests and large seizures of illegal narcotics during the last 24 hours. “We will not rest until Punjab is drug-free”, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said in a statement, before recognizing the police and range enforcement teams for their continuous effort to combat the drug issue in Punjab.
Major Raids Across Strategic Districts
In the last 24 hours, Punjab Police conducted investigative and targeted raids in Ludhiana, Amritsar, Moga, and Tarn Taran, resulting in multiple drug suppliers and middlemen being arrested, including a substantial haul of illegal narcotics.
Authorities indicated that over 250 kg of illegal narcotics were also recovered, and a significant amount of currency was seized. Officials confirmed that the police were informed and directed to dismantle entrenched trafficking networks.
These arrests demonstrate one key element of our message that no one involved in drug dealing will be spared.” A police officer stated.
CM Mann: ‘Our Youth Deserve a Drug-Free Future’
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reemphasized his government’s commitment to the cause, insisting that their fight was not political, but fundamentally social. “Our youth are the backbone of Punjab. We are determined to protect our youth from the clutches of addiction,” said Mann. He similarly emphasized the government’s rehabilitation programs, such as education programs, counseling centers, and employment programs, to help addicts reintegrate into society.
Public Support and Ongoing Vigilance
The campaign has drawn widespread support from the citizens of Punjab, with community groups, schools, and local leaders working together to promote awareness.
Officials are encouraging the public to continue sharing information on illegal drug-related activities through the government’s anti-narcotics hotline.
Additionally, security has been increased on the border to prevent smuggling from across the border. Similarly, police have increased their night patrols and done spot checks on vehicles.
A Continuing Mission for a Drug-Free Punjab
As the ‘War on Drugs’ campaign marks 240 days, the actions taken by the government of Punjab reinforce a long-term mission to not just eliminate the supply chain, but also tackle the social aspects that maintain addiction.
The combination of ongoing vigilance and joint enforcement efforts continues to create a healthier, drug-free Punjab under CM Bhagwant Mann.
