New Delhi – In order to facilitate hassle-free payments of long-standing traffic challans for the citizens of Delhi, the Delhi Traffic Police will hold a special Lok Adalat session. The session is being organized by the Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) for the ease of citizens, and is scheduled to take place on November 9, 2025 across several district courts in the national capital.
What will be Special About the Lok Adalat?
The special one-day drive will be targeting e-challans for offences such as overspeeding, jumping a red light, or not wearing a helmet. The Lok Adalat will allow motorists to settle their fines and penalties at discounted rates, without going through protracted legal proceedings.
Officials said there are over 25 lakh challans pending in the Delhi Traffic Police’s database. The aim of this drive is to reduce the backlog with the help of traffic violators, as well as inspire motorists to obey traffic laws in the future.
How Citizens Can Check Their Pending Challans
Vehicle owners can easily verify if they have pending challans through two digital platforms:
- Delhi Traffic Police website: https://delhitrafficpolice.nic.in
- Parivahan Sewa portal: https://echallan.parivahan.gov.in
After confirming the details of the challan, citizens can go to their nearest court designated for a Lok Adalat session. It is recommended to carry the vehicle registration certificate (RC), driver’s license, valid ID, and a copy of the challan to facilitate verification.
Payments could be made by cash, debit/credit card, or UPI at the designated counter inside the court premises.
A Golden Opportunity to Avoid Legal Hassles
Officials call this a “golden opportunity” for residents of Delhi to clear their challans with ease. This event is also geared to promote responsible driving habits and public engagement with traffic management.
“Through this Lok Adalat, citizens can pay off their dues peacefully and help in maintaining road discipline,” said a senior traffic official.
Legalities welcomed the move to assist citizens in interacting with the government with a friendlier approach that would help the public and the court system by reducing back cases.
As the city continues to experience congestion and high incidents of traffic violations, this a great step toward maintaining traffic discipline and public engagement with agencies on the streets.
