The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) stated that the 244 km long Madhya Pradesh stretch of the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway has significantly improved the movement of agricultural produce from Mandsaur, Ratlam, Shajapur, and Dhar to major urban markets like Delhi, Mumbai, Surat, and Vadodara. The improved corridor has enabled faster, more reliable, and cost-effective logistics for farmers and traders across the region.
NHAI highlights boost in agro-trade through Delhi–Mumbai Expressway’s Madhya Pradesh section
The expressway, which is part of the larger Delhi–Vadodara–Mumbai network, has not only reduced travel time but also strengthened connectivity between major industrial and agricultural hubs. Residents of districts such as Mandsaur, Ratlam, and Jhabua now enjoy enhanced access to cities like Vadodara, Kota, Delhi, and Mumbai, bolstering both economic and social integration.
Officials emphasized that such infrastructure projects are playing a vital role
Officials emphasized that such infrastructure projects are playing a vital role in boosting regional economies and supporting India’s long-term goal of building efficient, world-class transport networks. Farmers, in particular, are witnessing tangible benefits, as the expressway provides them with a faster route to transport perishable goods to metropolitan markets, reducing wastage and increasing profit margins.
Additionally, the corridor is expected to attract investment in logistics hubs, warehouses, and food processing units along its route, creating new employment opportunities in rural and semi-urban areas. The improved connectivity is also likely to stimulate tourism, trade, and overall economic activity in Madhya Pradesh and neighboring states.
Experts believe that the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway represents a crucial link in India’s ambition to develop multi-modal transport corridors that not only ease freight movement but also strengthen national unity through seamless inter-state connectivity.
