Delhi NCR Pollution: ‘Public Health At Risk…’ Doctor WARNS Of Health Disaster, Urges Govt To Act Instead Of Playing Blame Game

Dr Naresh Trehan warns that Delhi NCR pollution has reached disastrous levels, putting public health at extreme risk. He urges the government to act immediately instead of engaging in a blame game.

Delhi NCR Pollution has turned toxic again. As temperatures dropped, the Air Quality Index (AQI) reached the “hazardous” level on Saturday evening. This rise in pollution has become a major threat to public health.

Dr Naresh Trehan (Chairman of Medanta – The Medicity) has warned that the situation is serious. He called it a “health disaster” and urged the government to take action immediately.

Expert Reacts To Health Hazard, Asks Govt To Stop Blame Game And Act

Speaking to ANI, Dr Trehan said many people are being hospitalised due to the worsening air quality. He shared, “It is a major hazard from a healthwise. Many people have to be hospitalised due to this. This is a disaster in a way for humanity. Public health is at a very high risk right now. There is an increase in lung problems, asthma and strokes.”

The capital and nearby cities are once again covered in thick smog. The visibility has dropped, and the air feels heavy and difficult to breathe. For many residents, stepping outside without a mask feels unsafe.

Dr Trehan also criticised the political blame game over pollution. He said that instead of pointing fingers, real steps should be taken to solve the problem. “The blame game should be stopped, and serious measures need to be taken. Cloud seeding will only succeed when the humidity in the environment is 60 per cent or above. But why can’t we stop the burning of the stubble? You (government) are saying that we can go to war, but can’t control this. This is very disturbing. It is affecting everyone, so why blame anybody?”

The doctor also explained that pollution affects not just the lungs but the whole body. He added, “It is not only affecting the lungs right now, because these particulates go everywhere. They get absorbed in the blood, and they go to your kidneys. They go to a liver. So the chronic effects of it are making the public sick, sicker than they would be if they were living in a cleaner way.”

Children Will Be Worst Affected By Delhi NCR Pollution

He also raised concern about children being the worst affected. He added, “What happens to children is that their neurological development gets affected. So like I said, there is an increase in terms of lung problems, of asthma, of strokes, of high blood pressure and heart disease. So, people who are on a bottom line for kidney and liver failure, they get precipitated.”

As Delhi NCR pollution gets worse, experts warn of a public health emergency. They believe strict control over stubble burning, better traffic management and improved waste disposal can bring some relief.
