Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Chief Minister wrote in Punjabi that “Punjab has started light and sound shows at several locations to honour the supreme sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.” He further revealed that a special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha will be held on November 24 at Sri Anandpur Sahib, the sacred birthplace of the Khalsa, to mark the occasion.

The Chief Minister highlighted that these events aim not only to celebrate the Guru’s unparalleled contribution to humanity but also to inspire people to follow his teachings of truth, tolerance, and spiritual strength. Several historical gurdwaras across Punjab, including those associated with the Guru’s life, are being illuminated, while exhibitions and devotional programs have also been planned.

The light and sound shows are expected to attract large crowds

Cultural programs narrating Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s life, his message of peace, and his ultimate sacrifice for religious freedom are being held in multiple districts. The light and sound shows are expected to attract large crowds, offering both an educational and emotional journey through the pages of Sikh history.

Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, known as Hind Di Chadar (Protector of India), sacrificed his life in 1675 to uphold the freedom of faith against oppression. His martyrdom stands as a powerful reminder of the Sikh community’s enduring values of compassion, courage, and justice.

Citizens and religious leaders have appreciated the Punjab government’s initiative, calling it a fitting tribute to the Guru who gave his life for the protection of others’ beliefs. Many have also urged that such commemorations be continued annually to instill moral and cultural awareness among the younger generation.

The celebrations are expected to culminate with a state-level function at Sri Anandpur Sahib, where prominent spiritual leaders, scholars, and devotees will gather to pay homage to the great Guru.
