Work has picked up pace on the plan to connect Uttar Pradesh’s largest airport — Noida International Airport (Jewar) — with the state’s longest expressway, the Ganga Expressway. The route design for the proposed 74-kilometre greenfield link expressway is currently being prepared.
The new link expressway will be 120 metres wide. It will begin near the Film City area at the 24 km point of the Yamuna Expressway and extend to the 44.3 km point of the Ganga Expressway near Syana in Bulandshahr district. This connectivity aims to directly link major western UP districts such as Meerut, Bulandshahr, Khurja and Syana with the upcoming Jewar airport.
Key Meeting Between UPEIDA and YEIDA
A crucial meeting was held between the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) and the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) on Thursday. UPEIDA Additional CEO S.P. Shahi and YEIDA CEO R.K. Singh jointly reviewed the preliminary route plan for the 20-kilometre stretch that falls under YEIDA’s jurisdiction.
Officials confirmed that the detailed design process has begun. The meeting also discussed engineering structures such as underpasses, U-turns, and elevated sections to ensure smooth connectivity to nearby sectors and villages.
Major Boost for Western Uttar Pradesh
Once completed, the link expressway will significantly reduce travel time for lakhs of commuters from western UP. Areas including Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Khurja, Gajraula and Syana will have direct and faster access to Noida International Airport.
Final Preparatory Work Underway
Authorities stated that the focus is now on finalising the route, conducting technical surveys, and completing land-related processes. The aim is to align the construction timeline of the link expressway with ongoing development of the Ganga Expressway and Noida International Airport.
