Bhagwant Mann Welcomes Tarn Taran’s Harmeet Singh Sandhu, Calls for People-Centric Governance

CM Mann greets Harmeet Singh Sandhu, calling him the people’s choice and pledging governance focused on honesty, jobs & infrastructure.

Bhagwant mann: Punjab’s Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has greeted Harmeet Singh Sandhu as the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) candidate and ‘future’ MLA from Tarn Taran, stating his victory is a strong message that “people want politics of work” and real development.

A People’s Victory, Says Mann

Mann, who celebrated the victory of Sandhu in the bypoll, said the result is the clear message that the people of Tarn Taran want action instead of empty promises. He commended Sandhu’s roots in the area’s local community and stated that Sandhu is not just AAP’s candidate; he is the people’s choice.

Mann reiterated that all promises made to the residents will be prioritised in Tarn Taran, including better roads and a strong public service.

Roadshow Marks Grassroots Support

Speaking at the major roadshow across the villages of Tarn Taran, Mann stated this is not just a bypoll; this is the moment to choose the future of Tarn Taran. Mann argued that past governments made politics out of the privilege of power, and politics won’t be realising people’s potential under AAP governance will be different, and governance will prioritise service to the people.

Next, he highlighted real accomplishments his government claims to have achieved: free electricity for households, greater access to education and health, and merit-based recruitment for government departments.

Localising and Developing Trust in Governance

Mann’s message was not just a pitch — it was underscoring the idea of the AAP position, “Aap di Sarkar, Aap da MLA.” (Your government, Your MLA.) Mann called for leaders to stop viewing voters as numbers. Instead, it was clear that he wants to offer governance that adheres to the voices of real people, listens to their real issues, and tries their very best to resolve them.

He also reiterated a key pledge of a Rs 1,000 monthly allowance for every woman, more than just rhetoric, AAP has not let pass.

Condemnation of Past Regimes

Mann used very strong words to address past parties, such as the Akalis and Congress, indicating a history of neglecting Tarn Taran, fostering corruption, and not developing. In his words, years of excessive power and suffering had afflicted the people.

Sandhu’s Introduction and Pledge

Sandhu, a three-time MLA, made a recent switch to AAP politics, and Mann has been openly supportive of this change, even promoting Sandhu as a good addition for experience and proximity to the community. Sandhu delivered a response thanking Mann and assured the people, he was interested in committing his efforts toward the best interests of the community, notably, roads, schools, jobs, and healthcare.

Mann’s acceptance of Sandhu is more than an indication of political alliance; it is to convey the redefining political engagements we may see with AAP and their commitment.
