Ranveer spoke warmly about Rishab’s performance in Kantara Chapter 1. He shared that he watched the film in cinemas and was blown away by its intensity. During his onstage interaction, he said, “I watched Kantara Chapter 1 in theatres. And Rishab, it was an outstanding performance, especially when the female ghost (Chamundi daiva) enters your body – that shot was amazing.”
He then attempted to imitate the scene, which made Rishab laugh. Ranveer even asked the audience if they wanted to see him in Kantara 3 and encouraged them to tell Rishab the same.
This viral video did not land well with many viewers. The moment where he referred to the daiva as a “female ghost” has been called offensive, insensitive and disrespectful to the tradition portrayed in the film. Several users took to social media to share their disappointment.

As for Ranveer, he will next be seen in a rugged and action-heavy role in Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar. The film also stars Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and R Madhavan. It is set for release on 5 December.
