Tea Lovers Beware: Can Excess Tea Weaken Bones and Trigger Joint Issues? Know Why Experts Tell You to Moderate

All the tea lovers unite, as it is time to consider the number of cups you are having daily. Not 4 to 5 cups of tea anymore if you want stronger bones and joint health. The good news? Well, experts are not saying you should completely forgo your winter ki chai.

As the winter gets colder, all the tea lovers unite. From the morning breakfast to the evening joints tea manages to make its space in almost all Indian’s regular diet. Especially if you are a proud Chai lover, then having a daily 3 to 4 cups of tea will seem very normal to you, right? Well, are you secretly damaging your bones and joints with this simple habit? Experts are warning that tea can weaken bones and joints without giving you a single hint of its mischievousness.

Experts Explain How Tea Compounds Impact Calcium Levels

JointLine Orthopaedic Hospital has stated, “Drinking tea can weaken bones – it’s half true.” Health experts are warning people to limit their tea intake, particularly during the winter season, as excessive consumption can weaken bones and joints. While this doesn’t mean you need to cut tea out entirely, it’s important to be mindful of how much you drink.

Tea contains caffeine and tannic acid, both of which hinder calcium absorption. Drinking more than 4 or 5 cups a day can lead to a gradual decrease in calcium retention, potentially reducing bone density over time. Those with already low dietary calcium are at a higher risk of developing weakened bones.

Safe Tea Consumption Limits to Prevent Joint Problems

Drinking one or two cups of tea daily, however, does not contribute to decreased bone density when consumed with a calcium-rich diet. Experts also suggest that you not have tea right before or after a meal, as this may decrease the absorption of nutrients in your body.

This rule especially applies to people with low calcium levels or osteoporosis. Therefore, to protect your bones and joint health, have tea and coffee in moderate quantities.

Simple Dietary Habits to Protect Bones and Joint Health

If you are a tea lover, it will definitely be difficult to stay away from your daily energy drink. Instead of completely avoiding, you can switch to healthier teas like green tea or herbal tea. For better bone and joint health, you can also drink warm milk during winter mornings or evenings. Get into sunlight for at least 30 minutes to meet your daily vitamin D. You can also take vitamin D supplements.

With sensible cups of tea and healthy alternatives, you can aim for better bone and joint health. Have tea in moderation, do not make it a habit, and enjoy your winter without the risk of catching a joint pain.
