Priyanka Gandhi’s Verbal Grenade: ‘Gandhi Is an Idea, Not a Family Title!’ Congress Leader Speaks Up On VB G RAM G Bill

Senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi has opposed the introduction of the Viksit Bharat Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Bill, 2025, also known G Ram G Bill.

Priyanka Gandhi: Senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi has opposed the introduction of the Viksit Bharat Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Bill, 2025, also known G Ram G Bill, which was introduced by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Gandhi made the opposition under Rule 72(1) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Lok Sabha. She remarked MGNREGA has been pivotal in offering livelihood to millions of people in rural India while also strengthening the rural economy for more than two decades.

Priyanka also said Mahatma Gandhi belonged to the entire India and not just the Gandhi family. She made this remark when being told by BJP that Mahatma Gandhi was not a part of her family.

In 2005, Congress brought the MGNREGA that guaranteed 100 days of paid work in a year to every individual in rural areas. The scheme was rated a gamechanger for the rural economy of India.

Shivraj Chouhan Counters Priyanka Gandhi

Chouhan countered the arguments of Priyanka by saying that the BJP government strongly believes in Mahatma Gandhi and his principles. He further remarked the existing government will realize the dream of Mahatma Gandhi for establishing the Ram Rajya he dreamed of.

What is VB-G Ram G Bill, 2025?

The bill provides a statutory guarantee of 125 days of wage employment in every financial year to every rural household when their adult members volunteer to undertake unskilled manual work. States are required to make a scheme consistent with the new law’s provisions within six months from the date of commencement of the VB-G RAM G Act.

The new law’s financial liability will be shared between the Center and the State governments. It would be 90:10 for the Northeastern states and Himalayan states, and 60:40 for all other union territories with legislature and states. The entire cost would be borne by the Center for union territories without a legislature.
