Kanpur–Lucknow Expressway to Open by March
Divisional Commissioner Vijayendra Pandian confirmed that two major economic corridors in the state — Kanpur–Lucknow and Prayagraj–Varanasi — have been formally approved. He said the decision goes beyond road connectivity and is aimed at strengthening employment generation, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance in Uttar Pradesh.

According to officials, areas along the Kanpur–Lucknow Expressway corridor will be developed as manufacturing, logistics, and technology-based clusters. The long-term plan includes setting up state-of-the-art IT parks, Special Economic Zones (SEZs), and industrial nodes, which are expected to attract both domestic and global investors.
The commissioner also revealed that a comprehensive roadmap is being prepared to develop Lucknow as a major startup destination in North India. Improved connectivity, industrial infrastructure, and policy support are expected to create a favourable ecosystem for startups, MSMEs, and large industries.
In another major update, Pandian said that the proposed Kanpur–Lucknow Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) project had already received approval in October 2025. Once implemented, the RRTS will significantly reduce travel time between the two cities and further enhance economic integration.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, these projects are seen as part of the state government’s broader vision to transform Uttar Pradesh into an industrial and investment hub. The expressway and economic corridor are expected to reshape urban growth, create thousands of jobs, and accelerate balanced regional development across central Uttar Pradesh.
