In a major breakthrough against the narco-terror nexus, the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), SAS Nagar, under the Punjab Police, has arrested Army deserter Rajbir Singh alias Fauji and his associate for their involvement in a cross-border drug and weapons smuggling racket. According to the DGP Punjab Police, the arrests were made after swift action on forward and backward linkages, which helped investigators uncover the broader conspiracy behind the smuggling network. Rajbir Singh, a former Army personnel, is also wanted in an espionage case registered earlier this year at Police Station Gharinda in Amritsar Rural.

Further investigation has revealed Rajbir Singh’s alleged role in the grenade attack on a women police station in Sirsa, Haryana. Police officials stated that he was involved in the delivery of hand grenades and arranging funds for carrying out the attack, indicating a serious threat to internal security.

Senior officers said the case highlights the growing challenge of narco-terror networks

Senior officers said the case highlights the growing challenge of narco-terror networks operating across borders, using drugs and illegal arms to finance terror activities. The investigation is ongoing to identify other handlers, associates, and cross-border links connected to the accused.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Police has intensified its crackdown on drugs, organised crime, and terror networks. Officials reiterated that the state remains fully committed to dismantling narco-terror modules and safeguarding national security, ensuring that such elements are dealt with firmly and lawfully.
