CM Yogi Adityanath: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath has announced a defence push of ₹23,000 Crore, including more than 100 defence and military-ware projects in a bid to boost defence manufacturing in the state.
What All Projects And Categories Included For The Defence Push By CM Yogi Adityanath?
The defence push of ₹23,000 Crore would include a total of 110 projects. It would cover a series of categories of defence hardware such as drones, arms, ammunition, missiles, propellant systems, parachutes and defence textiles.
The Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC), which includes nodes such as Aligarh, Agra, Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi and Chitrakoot would be an important element to make Uttar Pradesh and India more self-reliant in the defence sector.
The nodal agency UP Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has signed 197 memorandums of associations (MOUs) with major aerospace and defence firms to establish units across UPDIC nodes.
Adityanath Urges Public to Help Vulnerable
In another development, the UP CM has urged citizens to protect vulnerable members of the society from the ongoing cold wave. Yogi asked people to ensure domestic workers, sanitation staff, security guards and others around them have adequate arrangements to cope with the severe cold.
In a post on X, Yogi said the government is working with full sensitivity and promptness to protect people from the cold wave in north India. He added officials have been instructed to adopt a humane and highly sensitive approach. The UP CM also commented that woolen clothes and blankets are being distributed to the needy through urban local bodies and tehsils, and mentioned that bonfires have been arranged at public places.
He also remarked that the arrangements of blankets and bonfires are also being made at cow shelters besides informing that extra security personnel are being deployed on roads to ensure travel safety amid fog.
