Humayun Kabir: Former Trinamool Congress MLA Humayun Kabir has remarked his party would contest 135 out of 294 assembly seats in the upcoming West Bengal elections.

The suspended Trinamool Congress leader and Bharatpur MLA remarked his Janata Unnayan Party (JUP) may form an electoral alliance with the Indian Secular Front (ISF) and Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).
How Many Seats Are Being Targeted?
Kabir said his party JUP would contest on 135 out of 294 assembly seats in the state of West Bengal. He said his primary goal was to win at least 90 seats. Kabir said he expects to play an important role in the formation of the state government next year.
Kabir went on to say that people like Mamata Banerjee who are calling him an traitor have in fact betrayed the Muslim community at every step. Kabir said Mamata assured the Muslims that she would take care of Waqf Act but she deceived the people.
Humayun Kabir added he is presently in discussions for alliances and would soon share all the details. Kabir said he is not worried about the BJP, TMC, CPIM or Congress.
Reacting to the statement of Kabir, Trinamool Congress All-India general secretary Abhishek Banerjee said Kabir joined the same BJP in 2019 that had brought down the Babri Masjid. Banerjee added that anyone is free to make a party, temple or mosque but there is no need to politicize it.
