In a major boost to rail connectivity and religious tourism, Dr Nishikant Dubey announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directly connected Kolkata (Sealdah), Baidyanath Dham Deoghar, and Kashi Vishwanath Dham Varanasi through the Amrit Bharat Train.

Sharing the update, Dubey said the new Varanasi–Sealdah Amrit Bharat Train will operate three days a week, significantly improving travel convenience for pilgrims and passengers across eastern and northern India. The Prime Minister is expected to formally inaugurate the train soon.
Route, Timing and Schedule Details
As per the announced schedule, the Amrit Bharat Train will halt at Jasidih Junction at 5:20 am and reach Sealdah, Kolkata at 9:45 am. On the return journey, the train will depart from Sealdah at 7:20 pm and arrive at Jasidih at 11:30 pm.
The new service will offer faster, affordable, and comfortable travel options for devotees visiting major pilgrimage centres such as Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar and Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi, while also strengthening inter-state rail connectivity.
Boost to Pilgrimage and Regional Connectivity
The launch of the Amrit Bharat Train is expected to provide a major boost to religious tourism, regional mobility, and economic activity. Pilgrims travelling between West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh will benefit from direct rail access, reducing travel time and improving convenience.
Dr Nishikant Dubey also expressed gratitude to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for the initiative, stating that the new train reflects the central government’s focus on modernising rail infrastructure and improving passenger services.
Part of Rail Modernisation Drive
The Amrit Bharat Train service is part of the Indian Railways’ broader effort to enhance connectivity, upgrade passenger facilities, and strengthen links between key cultural and economic centres. The initiative aligns with the government’s vision of improved transport infrastructure to support tourism, trade, and regional development.
With its inauguration expected soon, the Varanasi–Sealdah Amrit Bharat Train is set to become an important travel link for millions of passengers across eastern and northern India.
