PM Awas Yojana: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced approval for constructing approximately 2,400 houses in the Ghazipur district under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) scheme. Under the scheme, priority would be given to eligible beneficiaries from economically weaker section (EWS) families or single individuals.
The scheme would benefit thousands of families and individuals who have been living in nagar panchayats and municipal councils for years while dreaming of their own permanent home.
PM Awas Yojana-More About The Notification
The district has three municipal councils – Ghazipur, Mohammadabad and Zamania and 5 nagar panchayats – Sadat, Saidpur, Bahadurganj, Jangipur and Dildarnagar.
The District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) has already prepared the detailed project report (DPR) for homeless people under this scheme. The path for construction of homes is now clear with the approval already being received.
The houses would be built in phases and successful beneficiaries would receive the stipulated amounts as a joint assistance from the state and central governments. The amounts would be directly transferred to the bank accounts of beneficiaries to ensure accountability, fairness and transparency.
Once house approval has been made, physical verification of beneficiaries and scrutiny of documents would be conducted. Regular monitoring of the houses’ construction work would be conducted. This would help in ensuring that the construction gets completed on time and there are no compromises on the quality of the constructed homes.
Rs 2.50 Lakh in Three Installments
Beneficiaries receive a total assistance of Rs. 2.50 lakh under the PM Awas Yojana (Urban) for construction of the houses, which would be disbursed in installments. The first installment of Rs. 50,000 would be released after verification.
The second installment of Rs. 1 lakh would be released after site inspection and geo-tagged photo upload. The third and final installment of Rs. 1 lakh would be released after the house is fully constructed and final verification has been performed.
