Noida Techie Death: Who is Krishna Karunesh, Noida Authority’s New CEO? Would The Former Gorakhpur DM And IAS Officer Redefine NDA After Yuvraj Mehta’s Accident?

Krishna Karunesh: A 2011‑batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, Krishna Karunesh is a native of Bihar.

Krishna Karunesh: Senior Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer Krishna Karunesh has been appointed by the Noida Authority as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Karunesh replaces Lokesh M who was withdrawn by the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath after the tragic death of a 27‑year‑old software engineer in Sector 150.

Who is Krishna Karunesh?

A 2011‑batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, Krishna Karunesh is a native of Bihar and has held eminent posts in Uttar Pradesh. He has been the District Magistrate (DM) of Gorakhpur, DM of Hapur and Balrampur and Chief Development Officer (CDO) of Ghaziabad.

He has also served as Vice Chairman of Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) and was working the Additional CEO (ACEO) of Noida Authority. This gives him first-hand familiarity with the working style and urban planning challenges of the Noida Authority.  

In administrative circles, Krishna Karunesh is best known for his rule-based and no-nonsense approach. In the past, he has taken strict actions against many government officials who were accused of negligence.

Noida Techie Death-Why The Leadership Change In Noida?

The immediate and most prominent trigger for the CEO reshuffle was the tragic death of Yuvraj Mehta who died after falling into a water‑filled pit at a construction site in Sector 150 on the night of 16 January 2026.

Residents and eyewitnesses gross negligence by builders and lax oversight by the Noida Authority, triggering nationwide and social media outrage. The state government placed Lokesh M on the waiting list and announced a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe lapses.

Residents and civic groups expect Karunesh to enforce warning boards, mandatory fencing and night-lighting at all construction puts, along with surprise inspections by top-level officials from time to time. Noida’s recurring flood‑like conditions during rains have always been a point of great concern for residents. Residents also expect Karunesh to complaint mechanisms more visible and time‑bound, including online tracking of site‑violation cases.
