Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have increased security at their Mumbai home after a late-night threat. Reports claim that Ranveer received a WhatsApp voice note in which the sender allegedly demanded crores. Soon after, the couple deployed six armed security guards outside their residence.

This sudden move has raised concern inside their housing society in Dadar. An official letter was sent by the society to the Dadar Police Station. The letter questioned the presence of armed guards in common areas of the building.

The matter has now become a talking point, as residents seek clarity about safety and permissions.

Ranveer Singh Tightens Security After Late-Night Threat

According to the letter, six armed guards were deployed in and around the building without the “permission” of the Society Managing Committee. The letter also mentioned that one uniformed police officer has been stationed with the actors.

The society expressed serious concern about the safety and comfort of other residents. Members said the armed personnel were seen carrying weapons in shared spaces like the lobby, gymnasium and children’s area.

In its letter, the society asked the police to verify whether proper approval had been granted. It also raised three key questions: Are the private security guards deployed within the residential complex carrying licensed firearms? Has your office (the Dadar Police Station) granted them permission for this? Details of the police personnel deployed in the flat, including the department they belong to and the nature of their deployment.

The society further stated that no prior approval was taken before placing the guards in the common areas of the building.

Police begin probe into extortion voice note

Preliminary information suggests that the threat was sent to Ranveer Singh’s assistant through a WhatsApp voice message. Reports indicate that the assistant may have blocked unknown calls. As a result, the sender allegedly used a voice note to deliver the threat demanding crores.

According to India Today, Ranveer informed the Mumbai Police soon after receiving the message. Security outside his residence was then increased as a precaution. Police have launched an investigation and are trying to trace the person who sent the voice note. More details are expected as the probe continues.

So far, neither Ranveer Singh nor Deepika Padukone has issued a public statement.

On the professional front, Ranveer was recently seen in the spy thriller Dhurandhar. The film became the highest-grossing movie in India in 2025. It is set in Pakistan and follows an Indian spy infiltrating terror networks in Lyari. The film also stars Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and R Madhavan. It is currently streaming on Netflix, and its sequel will be released in cinemas on March 19.

Deepika Padukone was last seen in Singham Returns. She gave birth to their daughter, Dua, on September 8, 2024. She will next be seen in King with Shah Rukh Khan.
