The Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath, has announced major budgetary provisions for strengthening public transport, promoting green mobility, and enhancing road safety in the financial year 2026–27. The initiatives form part of the state’s broader development vision titled “Viksit Uttar Pradesh 2047.”
CM Yogi Adityanath Highlights Green Transport Push
According to official details shared by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, ₹400 crore has been allocated for the procurement of electric buses to modernize and strengthen the state’s bus fleet. In addition, ₹150 crore has been earmarked for the construction and development of bus terminals to improve passenger facilities and infrastructure.
To support the transition toward electric mobility, the government has proposed ₹50 crore for installing EV charging stations at bus depots and terminals. Officials say this step aims to encourage wider adoption of electric vehicles and reduce carbon emissions across the state’s transport network.
Another ₹50 crore has been set aside under the Chief Minister Zero Fatality Vision scheme, which focuses on preventing road accidents and improving post-accident emergency response systems. Authorities stated that the initiative will strengthen road safety mechanisms, enhance monitoring, and support faster medical assistance for accident victims.
Government sources emphasized that these measures reflect a dual focus
Government sources emphasized that these measures reflect a dual focus on sustainable development and commuter safety. By combining infrastructure expansion with green technology and safety reforms, the state aims to modernize its transport ecosystem while addressing environmental concerns.
Officials further noted that investments in public transportation are expected to ease congestion, improve connectivity between districts, and provide citizens with safer and more efficient travel options. The transport department is likely to implement these projects in phases, with priority given to high-traffic urban corridors and intercity routes.
The announcements underscore the state government’s broader strategy of aligning infrastructure growth with sustainability goals, positioning Uttar Pradesh as a key contributor to India’s transition toward cleaner and safer mobility systems.
