The Uttar Pradesh government, under CM Yogi Adityanath, has proposed a major allocation of ₹7,705 crore for the Housing and Urban Planning sector in the 2026–27 state budget, focusing on urban expansion, new city development, and strengthening city economic regions across the state.

According to official information shared by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, a significant portion—₹3,500 crore—has been earmarked for the Chief Minister Urban Expansion and New City Promotion Scheme, which aims to accommodate rapid urbanization, improve planned development, and create new growth hubs to ease pressure on existing cities.
The budget also sets aside ₹800 crore for infrastructure projects under development authorities, including the Lucknow Development Area and other regional authorities. These funds will be utilized for urban infrastructure such as roads, drainage, civic amenities, and public facilities to enhance living standards and support economic activity.

In addition, the government has proposed ₹750 crore for a new infrastructure development initiative covering development authorities in Meerut, Mathura–Vrindavan, and Kanpur. The initiative is expected to strengthen urban services, improve connectivity, and accelerate planned growth in these rapidly expanding urban centers.
Officials said the provisions reflect the state’s broader long-term vision of balanced urbanization and regional economic growth. By promoting planned expansion and modern infrastructure, the government aims to attract investment, generate employment, and improve quality of life for residents.
The urban development push is part of the administration’s larger roadmap aligned with its development vision, which emphasizes infrastructure-led growth, modernization of cities, and creation of sustainable urban ecosystems across Uttar Pradesh.
