Section-Wise Answer Sheets and Two Exam Sessions to Reshape CBSE Board Exams 2026
One of the most crucial updates in CBSE Board Exams 2026 is the introduction of mandatory section-wise answer sheets. If a student writes an answer in the wrong section, it will be marked as “Attempt Not Done” — even if the response is correct. This rule makes careful paper handling extremely important.
CBSE has also introduced two exam opportunities. The February exam will be compulsory, while a May improvement exam will allow students to reappear in up to three subjects. The best score will be considered final, offering a second chance without losing an academic year.
A new 9-point grading scale from A1 to E will replace the older evaluation format, aiming for greater transparency and fair assessment.

50% Competency-Based Questions to Reduce Rote Learning
The CBSE paper pattern 2026 will focus heavily on application-based questions. Around 50% of the paper will test analytical and case-study skills, 20% will be objective type, and 30% will cover short and long answers.
