PM Surya Ghar Yojana: The Haryana government would set a target to install a staggering 2.22 lakh rooftop solar systems in the state under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana by March 31, 2027.

A spokesperson of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (UHBVN) remarked the state would be formulating policies for accelerating the adoption of rooftop solar energy in Haryana. For this, the Haryana government under Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has approved a new scheme for financial assistance called Solar Energy Promotion Scheme.

Under the Solar Energy Promotion Scheme, financial assistance would be provided to eligible consumers so they can install rooftop solar systems at their homes. The scheme has been divided into 3 categories.
Eligible Categories
Under the first category, non-defaulting consumers who have paid their entire electricity bills before the due date or on time from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2025 would be eligible.
Under the second category, employees of state government boards, departments and corporations that have no pending electricity bills. Under the third category, Antyodaya families with an annual income up to Rs. 1.8 lakh, annual consumption below 2400 units with no pending electricity bills would be eligible under the scheme for the installation of rooftop solar (RTS) capacity up to 2 kWp. The Antyodaya families would receive 40 percent of the actual cost or Rs. 25000 per kW, whichever is lesser.
For category 1 and 2, the state government would provide a financial assistance of Rs. 195 per kWp, subject to a maximum of Rs. 97500 up to 5 kWp RTS (Grid Connected Rooftop Solar) capacity.
All concerned officers have been directed by UHBVN Managing Director Mani Ram Sharma to make sure that strict compliance is maintained at all times.
