Heart Attack And Stroke: Every few weeks, social media throws up a new claim. One fruit for a healthy heart. One vegetable for a sharp brain. The promises sound tempting. After all, who wouldn’t want a simple fix for serious health risks? However, a recent video from an AIIMS doctor is now challenging this popular belief.
In a video shared on Instagram, AIIMS doctor Priyanka Sehrawat addressed a question many people often ask: Is there one magical food that can prevent a heart attack or stroke?
She said, “You often hear people ask about one magical fruit for the heart or one magical vegetable for the brain. But let me tell you, my friend, there is no single thing that can save you from a stroke or a heart attack. These conditions are multi-factorial, which means they are influenced by many factors, not just one.”
Heart Attack Prevention Is More Than Just Diet
Dr Sehrawat emphasised that daily habits shape long-term health. Food is important, but it is only one piece of a much larger puzzle.
She highlighted several factors that influence heart health:
- Sleep quality: Are you getting proper, restful sleep?
- Stress levels: How much anxiety or pressure do you face daily?
- Balanced diet: Are you eating a variety of nutrients?
- Protein intake: Is your body getting what it needs?
- Physical activity: Do you follow a regular exercise or aerobic routine?
According to her, neglecting these basics can quietly raise health risks over time. Many people focus on supplements or superfoods while ignoring sleep, movement and stress management. That imbalance can be dangerous.
Lifestyle Habits That Raise Risk
The doctor also warned about everyday behaviours that significantly increase the chances of serious illness. She said, “Equally important is relaxation. Do you take even a few minutes each day to sit quietly, breathe or practise yoga? All these habits matter.”
She further pointed out that smoking and alcohol consumption remain major contributors to heart attack and stroke risk. These habits can trigger or worsen conditions such as:
- High blood pressure
- High blood sugar
- High cholesterol
Over time, these issues may lead to life-threatening complications.
Dr Sehrawat concluded by saying, “Most non-communicable diseases are multi-factorial. So remember, there is no magical single solution. Your overall lifestyle is what truly protects you.”
