According to officials, more than 60 stalls from different districts have been set up, showcasing a wide range of traditional fabrics, handloom creations, and handcrafted textile products. The event highlights the government’s push to support artisans, strengthen rural livelihoods, and revive traditional industries that form a key part of India’s cultural heritage.
Over 60 Stalls Set Up
During the event, 39 weavers were honoured under the Sant Kabir State Handloom Award Scheme in recognition of their craftsmanship and contribution to the textile sector. Authorities said such recognition not only rewards talent but also motivates artisans to preserve traditional weaving techniques for future generations.
The expo, which will continue until March 2, 2026, is expected to attract traders, designers, exporters, and buyers from across the country. Officials stated that the initiative reflects the broader development vision of Uttar Pradesh, focusing on skill promotion, local industry growth, and expanding market access for artisans.
Organisers added that events like these help bridge the gap between traditional craftsmen and modern markets, ensuring that handmade Indian textiles gain wider visibility and sustainable demand.
In addition, officials noted that the expo is also serving as a networking platform where weavers can directly interact with bulk buyers, fashion designers, exporters, and government agencies. This direct engagement is expected to help artisans understand current market trends, pricing strategies, and consumer preferences, enabling them to adapt their designs and production methods accordingly.
Workshops and live demonstrations are also being organised alongside the exhibition to showcase traditional weaving techniques, dyeing processes, and fabric finishing skills. Visitors are being educated about the cultural significance and craftsmanship behind handloom and khadi products, which organisers say helps build appreciation for handmade textiles and encourages conscious purchasing.
