According to the chief minister, construction work is progressing on the Varanasi international cricket stadium, which is being developed as a world-class sports venue. The project is part of a broader initiative to expand sports infrastructure across the state and position Uttar Pradesh as a major destination for national and international sporting events.
Officials say the stadium will help promote sports culture in eastern Uttar Pradesh, provide facilities for professional training, and create opportunities for local youth in athletics and related sectors.
Gorakhpur Stadium Plan
The government has also made budgetary provisions for constructing a cricket stadium in Gorakhpur. Authorities stated that planning and preliminary work will begin soon, with a target to complete the project by December 2027. The proposed stadium is expected to strengthen regional sports infrastructure and support talent development in eastern districts.
MoU With Indian Oil Corporation Limited
The announcement comes alongside an agreement signed between the state government and Indian Oil Corporation Limited, aimed at supporting infrastructure and development initiatives.
