Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar 2 Trailer was reportedly set to release on March 3, during Holi 2026. However, the big launch did not happen. Now, reports claim that a Chandra Grahan (lunar eclipse) may be the reason behind the delay.
According to Bollywood Hungama, the eclipse on March 3 will begin at 3:20 pm and end at 6:47 pm. The inauspicious period is believed to last from 9:39 am to 6:46 pm. Since most film trailers are launched around noon, the timing reportedly fell within this period.
Dhurandhar 2 Trailer Launch Postponed Due To Lunar Eclipse?
A source told the portal that the reports about the trailer release of Dhurandhar: The Revenge on March 3 were not just rumours. The makers had actually planned to launch it on that day. However, they were later informed that March 3 has a Chandra Grahan, or lunar eclipse, which is considered inauspicious for starting something new. The inauspicious period is believed to be from 9:39 am to 6:46 pm. Since film trailers are usually launched around noon, the timing would have fallen within this period. Therefore, the team decided to postpone the trailer release.
This is not the first time the makers have changed their plan. Earlier, there were reports about a grand trailer launch event in Mumbai on March 5. Later, that plan was dropped. The team then decided to release the trailer digitally without any event.
DON'T MISS
As per current reports, the trailer is likely to release on March 5 or 6. However, the exact date has not been officially announced. With the film hitting cinemas on March 19, fans are waiting eagerly for an update.
Dhurandhar 2 Runtime To Be Longer Than First Part?
The first Dhurandhar was known for breaking norms, especially because of its long runtime. The film ran for 214.01 minutes, which is 3 hours, 34 minutes, and 1 second. Now, reports suggest that Dhurandhar 2 could be even longer, with an expected runtime of around 235 minutes, or 3 hours and 55 minutes.
If this turns out to be true, the sequel could become one of the longest Hindi films ever made, just behind LOC Kargil, which runs for 4 hours and 7 minutes.
Box Office Clash With Toxic
While the first film enjoyed a smooth run at the box office, Dhurandhar 2 will face strong competition from Toxic, starring Yash. Both films are already clashing in North America ahead of their India release.
Trade reports suggest that Dhurandhar 2 has earned $33,723 (Rs 30.84 lakh) in USA premiere advance sales. The film has sold 1,953 tickets across 151 locations and 209 shows. On the other hand, Toxic has collected $3,665 (Rs 3.35 lakh) with 189 tickets sold across 81 locations and 122 shows so far.
On BookMyShow, Dhurandhar 2 has crossed 196K likes, while Toxic has 456K+ likes. Both films will be released in multiple languages, which makes the competition even more interesting. Adding to the buzz, the trailer of Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar and directed by Priyadarshan, will be attached to Dhurandhar 2 in cinemas from March 19. The film also stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Tabu and Paresh Rawal, and will release on April 10, 2026.
