US Israel Iran War: Mojtaba Khamenei, the second son of slain Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been appointed as the Supreme Leader of Iran by the Assembly of Experts.
The leadership change in the Islamic Republic of Iran signals the continuity of hard-line Islamists as crisis in the Middle East intensified.
US Israel Iran War-The Appointment Of Mojtaba Khamenei
Mojtaba has long been considered as a potential contender for the Supreme Leader’s position.
In a statement, the Assembly of Experts remarked that it has appointed Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei as Islamic Republic of Iran’s third leader.
The Supreme Leader’s position gives Mojtaba the unchallenged authority over all state matters in Iran, including full control over the judiciary, military and vital political institutions.
Donald Trump Blasts Appointment
United States President Donald Trump remarked that USA doesn’t approve of Mojtaba’s appointment as Iran’s supreme leader. Trump remarked that Mojtaba is a “lightweight” and the United States would not tolerate anyone who does not have the approval of the US administration.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was the long-time Supreme Leader of Iran, was killed in one of the initial strikes by the joint forces of Israel and the United States against Iran on February 28.
More than 1332 Iranian civilians have been killed and more than 1000 have been left wounded, according to Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations.
In another development, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf remarked that Iran is no mood to seek a ceasefire. The Parliament Speaker of Iran also remarked that they would punish those behind attacks against Ayatollah and the Iranian regime.
Esmaeil Baghaei, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson, remarked that Israel and the United States have released hazardous materials and toxic substances into the air by targeting the country’s fuel depots.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Trump remarked that offensive airstrikes against Iran would continue.
