PM Surya Ghar Scheme Gains Momentum, Meerut Resident Turns ‘Energy Provider’: CM Yogi Adityanath
In a statement shared on social media, the Chief Minister referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioning a resident from Meerut during the Mann Ki Baat programme. The individual, Arun Kumar, has emerged as an “energy provider” in his area by generating surplus solar power under the scheme.
Yogi Adityanath described this development as a reflection of the Prime Minister’s visionary approach, stating that initiatives like the PM Surya Ghar scheme are enabling citizens to move towards energy self-reliance. Beneficiaries are not only reducing their electricity expenses but are also able to generate additional income by supplying excess power.
The scheme aims to promote rooftop solar installations across households
The scheme aims to promote rooftop solar installations across households, encouraging clean energy adoption while reducing dependence on conventional power sources. Officials believe that such initiatives can play a key role in strengthening India’s renewable energy capacity at the grassroots level.
The Chief Minister further noted that examples like Arun Kumar demonstrate how government schemes can directly transform lives by combining economic benefits with environmental sustainability. He added that the initiative is helping illuminate homes while also empowering citizens to actively participate in energy production.
Energy experts point out that decentralized solar generation can significantly reduce pressure on the power grid, especially during peak demand periods. It also contributes to lowering carbon emissions and advancing India’s climate goals.
The Uttar Pradesh government has reiterated its support for expanding renewable energy initiatives, with a focus on increasing awareness and encouraging more households to adopt solar solutions under the central scheme.
