Aditya Dhar’s Durandhar 2 continues to make headlines amid its strong box office run and growing audience support. The Ranveer Singh starrer has not only broken records but also started a debate about content in cinema. While many are praising the film, some critics have called it PROPAGANDA. Now, veteran actor Anupam Kher has reacted strongly to these claims.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film crossed a massive Rs 1000 crore worldwide within just seven days. This shows how well the film is connecting with audiences. Despite this success, the “propaganda” tag has continued to spark discussion online.
Anupam Kher REACTS To Dhurandhar 2 Propaganda Allegations
Speaking at the International Film Festival Delhi (IFFD) 2026, Anupam Kher dismissed the criticism. He said, “I think we should ignore people who are calling cinema propaganda films. We are putting too much energy onto them, they are redundant people, they are irrelevant people. Let’s celebrate the success of The Kashmir Files, let’s celebrate the success of Dhurandhar. People are not idiots. People are not idiots that they are going to see 12 o’clock show, housefull. People who go to see the film because they like it. And I think we should say rest in peace to people who are sort of calling it a propaganda film.”
He further added, “Whether cinema can change people, yes, it can. It depends on individuals sitting in the dark auditorium, but it’s also a business. It’s like any other business. Many people run channels as a business; they don’t do it just to tell a story. But if I am going to see a film, I may get something out of it.”

Kher also mentioned his own film, The Kashmir Files, while sharing his views. He said that successful films should be celebrated instead of being labelled. According to him, the audience decides what works and box office numbers reflect real public choice.
Earlier, Kher had also praised Ranveer Singh’s performance. He revealed that he personally called the actor after watching the film. He said, “I’m a teacher of acting. For me to really salute somebody, it takes a lot of time and conviction. You are outstanding… Your body language, your simmering anger, understanding your pain… In one or two scenes, your pain is so visible and made me sad. My heart went out to you.”
About Dhurandhar 2 The Revenge
Dhurandhar 2 The Revenge tells the story of Jaskirat Singh Rangi, played by Ranveer Singh. The film shows how he transforms into Hamza Ali Mazari and enters the underworld of Lyari. As the story moves forward, he rises in power while secretly working to break a terror network.
The film also stars Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun. It features supporting roles by Danish Pandor and Udaybir Sandhu, along with a cameo by Yami Gautam.
