In a significant move aimed at strengthening the education system, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath announced an increase in honorarium for Shiksha Mitras and instructors, along with a comprehensive cashless health scheme for education workers across the state.
The announcement was made during the launch ceremony of the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ for the academic session 2026–27 at a composite school in Shivpur, Varanasi.
CM Yogi Adityanath: Revised honorarium to benefit thousands
As per the announcement, Shiksha Mitras will now receive a monthly honorarium of ₹18,000, while instructors will be paid ₹17,000. The revised payments are set to be implemented from this month, providing financial relief and motivation to thousands of education workers.

₹5 lakh cashless health facility introduced
Alongside the honorarium hike, the state government has introduced a cashless health facility of up to ₹5 lakh. The scheme will cover teachers, Shiksha Mitras, cooks, and instructors working in government schools.
This initiative is expected to significantly reduce the financial burden of medical expenses and ensure timely healthcare access for education staff and their families.

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized that the government is committed to the welfare of educators and support staff who play a crucial role in shaping the future of children.
He urged teachers and staff members to continue serving with dedication, assuring them of the government’s full support.

The announcements came as part of the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’, a statewide campaign aimed at increasing school enrolment and improving educational outcomes.
