The controversy around Dhurandhar 2 seems far from over. After facing allegations of story theft earlier, filmmaker Aditya Dhar is now dealing with a fresh legal issue. This time, it is related to the alleged unauthorised use of a popular Bollywood song in his latest film Dhurandhar 2 The Revenge.
According to reports, production company Trimurti Films has filed a lawsuit against Dhar’s banner, B62 Studios. The complaint claims that the film has used the iconic track “Oye Oye” without proper permission. This has sparked a new debate around copyright and music rights in big-budget films.
Dhurandhar 2 Controversy Over ‘Oye Oye’ Song Rights
The song “Oye Oye” is a well-known track from the 1989 film Tridev. It was co-composed by Kalyanji-Anandji and Viju Shah, with lyrics by Anand Bakshi. The original song was sung by Amit Kumar and Sapna Mukherjee.
In its plea, Trimurti Films has claimed that the song, or a version very similar to it, has been used in Dhurandhar 2 without taking the required licences. The company has also stated that it owns the rights to the musical work and the sound recording.
As reported by Bar and Bench, the production house believes this usage amounts to copyright infringement. This includes unauthorised reproduction and communication of the work to the public. The company has also raised concerns about the commercial use of the song across theatres, streaming platforms, and promotional material.

The lawsuit seeks an injunction to stop further use of the track. In addition, Trimurti Films has demanded damages and other legal relief.
Earlier Story Theft Allegations Against Aditya Dhar
This is not the first controversy surrounding Dhurandhar 2. Before the song dispute, Aditya Dhar was accused of story theft by filmmaker Santosh Kumar RS.
Kumar claimed that Dhar’s film was based on his 2023 script titled D Saheb. According to him, the core idea of a revenge-driven RAW agent was taken from his work. He also alleged that Dhar added “political propaganda” to the original concept.
However, Aditya Dhar’s team strongly denied these claims. They called the allegations “baseless” and stated that the film’s script was an original idea. They also clarified that their script was registered in September 2023, which was earlier than Kumar’s registration.
Following the dispute, the Bombay High Court stepped in. On April 8, 2026, the court passed an interim order that restrained Santosh Kumar from repeating the allegations publicly while the case is being heard.
