Continuing its sustained offensive against narcotics under the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign, the Punjab Police on Tuesday reported significant action on Day 422 of the drive, registering multiple arrests and recoveries across the state.
Bhagwant Mann: Major Arrests and Recoveries
According to an official update, police teams arrested 132 drug smugglers during coordinated raids conducted at various locations in Punjab. Authorities also seized 4.1 kg of heroin, 23 units of poppy husk, and 704 intoxicant tablets and capsules.
Focus on Rehabilitation
In addition to enforcement measures, the police highlighted efforts toward rehabilitation. As many as 28 individuals were persuaded to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment, reflecting a dual approach of strict action against traffickers and support for those struggling with substance abuse.
The anti-drug campaign, backed by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force Punjab, has seen consistent operations across districts. Officials stated that raids were carried out simultaneously at multiple locations, ensuring wider coverage and impact.
With the latest arrests, the total number of drug smugglers apprehended during the campaign has reached 61,103 over 422 days, underscoring the scale and persistence of the crackdown.
The campaign is a key initiative of the Punjab government led by Bhagwant Mann, aimed at curbing drug abuse and dismantling trafficking networks across the state.
