Newly Inaugurated Dhyan Mandir by the Hon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Host Its First Event, a Global Peace Meditation on 13th May 2026

Participants from 182 Countries to Gather Physically and via Livestream for “World Meditates with Gurudev for Global Peace".

Within 72 hours after Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the iconic Dhyan Mandir at The Art of Living International Center in Bengaluru, the magnificent meditation space will host its first event – a Global Meditation for World Peace led by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Millions across 182 countries are set to participate, physically and via livestream, in what is poised to be one of the largest collective meditation moments in history.
Inaugurating the Dhyan Mandir yesterday, the Prime Minister spoke to the very purpose this space was built to serve. At a time when youth around the world are navigating stress, uncertainty and hyper-connectivity, he said: “A developed India will be built by young people who are mentally peaceful, socially responsible and sensitive towards society. That is why the role of institutions working in spiritual well-being, mental health, yoga and meditation is extremely important.”
Even as India strides ahead in technology, innovation and science, the Prime Minister credited the nation’s greatest strength: “The biggest reason behind all these achievements of the country is our youth. Gurudev and Art of Living are helping young people find solutions to the challenges of today’s modern age.”
On the spirit behind one of the world’s largest dedicated meditation spaces, he observed: “When the resolve is clear, and work is carried out with a spirit of service, every effort yields the right result.”
Capturing the arc of Art of Living’s 45-year journey, the Prime Minister said: “It was from this very inspiration that Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar presented Art of Living to the world. Today, it stands before us like a vast banyan tree, whose thousands of branches are touching countless lives across the world.”
The World Meditates with Gurudev event on May 13 is also the centrepiece of month-long celebrations marking 45 years of The Art of Living. Over recent weeks, eminent personalities from governance, public policy, business, entertainment, education and social leadership have converged at the International Center to honour Gurudev’s lifelong contribution to peacebuilding, mental wellbeing and service.
Dignitaries attending the broader celebrations include Shri Sukanto Majumdar, Hon. Union Minister of State for Education; Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon. Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways; Shri Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Hon. Chief Minister of Manipur; Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Hon. Governor of Manipur; Shri Nand Kishore Yadav, Hon. Governor of Nagaland; Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh (Retd.), Hon. Governor of Uttarakhand; and Shri Niranjan Hiranandani, Chairman of the Hiranandani Group.
Tomorrow’s global meditation is expected to unite millions across time zones and continents in a moment of collective silence and reflection – a living expression of the message Gurudev has carried to the world for four and a half decades: “Inner peace alone can bring peace outside.”
